There are numerous opportunities for parents to become involved in school life. Our literacy and numeracy programs encourage the participation of parents as Classroom Helpers to support children in small group tasks. Parents are also invited to assist with Art, Computer, Swimming and the Prep Perceptual Motor program. School excursions and special activities often require the support of parents to ensure their success. Other opportunities are involvement in School Council, their Sub-committees, Parent Group and Canteen.
Twilight School is held each year during Education Week from 6.00 - 7.30pm on a weekday. It gives our parents and wider school community the opportunity to view our normal school programs and join their children in a range of activities which celebrate education and learning at Greensborough Primary School.
Parent Contact
Each class has a Parent Contact volunteer who acts as a liaison between the class teacher and parents of children in the grade. The Parent Contact welcomes new families into the class and compiles and distributes a telephone and address list of class families (who wish to be included), to parents during Term 1. The Parent Contact also organises occasional social activities, which include the class teacher, and co-ordinates activities and events for the grade as needed.
Parent Group
Our Parent Group is an important group in the school. It is a forum for parents to have an input into the school's operations and activities. The Parent Group is active in organising the annual "Twilight Sports" which is held to give our children the opportunity to participate in an enjoyable sporting event with their family whilst providing a social occasion for our whole school community.
Parent Group members co-ordinate fundraising and enjoy social events as well. |
