Curriculum
The school is committed to delivering a school curriculum that equips students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to take their place in an increasingly more technologically complex world.

A comprehensive curriculum based on the key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Humanities, the Arts, Health, Physical Education and Languages is taught to all children. There is a particular emphasis accorded to Mathematics and English. A current priority is the development of students’ abilities in reflective thinking, inquiry learning and problem solving.

The social skills programs “You Can Do It!” and “Drug Education” is taught to all children to develop their understanding of healthy relationships and to promote their emotional well-being.

Specialist teachers provide programs in Art, Computer, Physical Education, Japanese and Music. Reading Recovery operates in Grade One.

Enrichment programs include Swimming, Interschool Sport, Camps, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts and Library. Non-compulsory Religious Education classes are held weekly.

Homework begins in the Junior School with all children expected to participate in the Home Reading and Maths Share programs. Middle School and Senior School students are required to complete weekly set tasks provided by their class teachers which include the learning of number facts and multiplication tables, spelling and wide reading. Additional homework activities may complement research and projects on current class topics, to provide a meaningful link between school and home.

Reports An informal parent teacher meeting is held in February to enable parents to pass on relevant information about their child to the class teacher. In June and December a comprehensive written report is provided and this forms the basis for the mid-year and end-of year Parent/Teacher interviews. Informal meetings can be arranged readily with the class teacher if any concerns arise over the year.

Professional development is a high priority of the school. Our staff undertake a wide variety of professional development activities to ensure the implementation of quality educational programs.
